CASS processing is handled by AES software. It is pretty straightforward with regards to how it works. The software will first standardize your addresses. Then the application corrects and updates them through our real-time CASS Processing engine. Finishing of with the software validating each and every address against the updated USPS database.

• Standardization. To standardize an address, the application processes each address and formats it according to CASS Standards.
• Correction. All typos and misspellings are corrected, missing ZIP+4 Codes are added.
• Validation. It assures that mail is deliverable by comparing the address with the latest USPS database.

CASS processing assures that USPS is going to deliver your mail. It recognizes any missing information such as apartment number, street suffix, or Zip+4. CASS only checks if mail can be delivered to the provided address. Basically CASS avoids returned mail.

The DPV process determines if the CASS processed address is identified as a Postal Service™ delivery point and detects vacancies and other addressing issues that may hinder delivery.

Address verification checks mail addresses against an authoritative database in order to find out if an address is valid or not. If the address in question is found to match an address in the authoritative database, it means that it is “verified”. If there is no match, the address is marked as invalid.

Any mail class is considered bulk mail when properly prepared and presented to the U.S. Postal Service® in sufficient quantity to qualify for USPS® postage discounts. USPS bulk mail is often called presort mail.
